Arthur Michael Meriano, Jr.
June 19, 2017Arthur Michael Meriano, Jr., age 72, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Upper Darby, PA, died on June 19, 2017 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by family, after a long and fierce battle with cancer.
Arthur graduated from Marple Newtown High School Class of 1963. Art worked in retail management most of his life starting at Lit Bros Department store in Philly, TJ Maxx, Boscov’s, just to name a few. Later in life, he worked at the Philadelphia Airport.
Arthur loved family and friends first and foremost but also enjoyed traveling especially to Maine with his wife, going to the shore, telling stories of his many adventures, we suspect all were not true but they were fun to hear him tell them, and hosting most of our best family get togethers. He always made everyone feel welcome in his home!
Arthur was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael Meriano, formerly of Chester , PA, who passed away in 2015 after his own long battle with cancer; his beloved parents, Arthur Meriano, Sr. and Anna Meriano, both formerly of Upper Darby, PA.
Arthur is survived and loved by his wife, Edna Walker-Meriano; and his children, son, Steven Meriano of Springfield, PA, daughter, Anne Meriano-McCullough and spouse, Kevin of Brookhaven, PA , daughter, Amy Walker- McKay of Waterbury, CT, daughter, Jennifer Meriano-Beyer and spouse, Michael of Newark, DE, daughter, Lauren Meriano and spouse, Daiva Kleinauskaite of Wilmington, DE, son ,Nicholas Meriano of Millsboro, DE; former daughter in law, Nori McKay of Waterbury, CT;4 grandsons, Cody McKay of Waterbury, CT, James McCullough of Brookhaven, PA, Aiden Beyer and Logan Beyer, both of Newark, DE. He is also survived and loved by his extended family of in-laws, who consider him a brother, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where friends may visit with the family from 10am to 11am. Burial will be private.
