Barbara A. (Walmsley) Dobson

Barbara A. (Walmsley) Dobson,  age 86, of Claymont, Delaware went to meet her husband of 65 years in heaven on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Barbara was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She was a talented homemaker and previously worked in the admitting department at the Wilmington Hospital. Barbara was the best wife, mother, grandmother, Nana and friend anyone could ask for. She had a heart of gold and loved spending time with her family.

Barbara was very active with the Claymont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, where she was a lifetime member holding many positions, including President. She was also a member of the New Castle County Ladies Auxiliary and the Women's Club of Delaware.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Marian Hamilton (Wadman) and Edward Walmsley, and her beloved husband of 65 years, Alvan Dobson. She is survived by her 2 children, Ron Dobson and Judy Wilson-Donnelly; 3 grandchildren, Christine (William Jr.) Achuff, William (Christina) Wilson and Sean (Stephanie) Donnelly; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Snavely (Warren) and Ruth Ann Dobson; and special friends, whom she considered family.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Viewing Sunday evening, June 18 from 6pm to 8pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 19 at 11am at the funeral home, where friends can visit with the family beginning at 10am. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720.
