Elizabeth Ann (Myers) Stauffer, known to her family and friends as Bette, passed away at the age of 72 on October 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Bette was born in Delaware County, Pennsylvania in 1945, grew up in Norwood, where she graduated from Interboro High School in 1963. Following her graduation, she attended IBM Computer school then returned to further education in 1978 where she attended Brandywine Community College before transferring to Neumann College in 1979 to complete her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

During her professional career, she had worked at Singlinger Communications, Interboro School District, Wheeler Enterprises, Holly Oak Preschool, Faith Preschool, Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council, Clover Department Stores, and Boscov’s Department Stores. In 2004, she founded Competent Cleaners with two of her daughters.

Bette dedicated much of her adulthood to helping others through her lifelong membership and volunteer work with the Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council and annual LPGA McDonald’s Championship (at DuPont Country Club). Believing in building bridges through understanding and friendship, she was also a member of the NAACP and the ACLU.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald (Jerry) Stauffer. Daughters; Jacqui (John) Biddle, Jill Blakeslee, Joy Stauffer (Chris White), Josie Mazeika (John Ponte), Lisa Cloud, and Lea Rolph. Her legacy extends through her grandchildren; Kristia (Chris) Davis, William Biddle, Thomas Blakeslee, Haley and Dylan White, Persephone Mazeika, Jillian and Kevin C. Rolph II. Bette was also blessed with a great grandchild, Makayla Davis. Also surviving are her sister Jean Davidson, brother, Dennis (Cathy) Myers, a slew of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Bette was predeceased by her father, David Myers; mother and step-father Helen and Samuel Watson; brother Rodger Myers; sons-in-law Jay Blakeslee and Kevin C. Rolph.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, from 10:00am until 12:00Noon on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, where a Memorial Service will begin at 12:00Noon.  Interment will be at 10am on Thursday, October 12th at the Delaware  Veteran’s Memorial  Cemetery (2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, 225 S. Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702 or to The Nemours A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children, 1600 Rockland Rd. Wilmington, DE 19803.
