Jessie Anita Hargan

Jessie A. Hargan of Claymont, DE and Gwinhurst, DE went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE.

Jessie was the daughter of the late Rose and Gilbert Hargan, Sr. She was a member of Atonement United Methodist Church, where she worked in many ministries. Jessie graduated from Claymont High School and Goldey-Beacom College with a business degree. She started working at 7-Up Company as a secretary doing many office jobs, then was a secretary/accountant at Jake's Market on King Street in Wilmington. When the store closed she continued working for the Jake brothers family business until she retired.

As Jessie endured health complications, she remained positive and never gave up. Though her body was dying her inner strength in the Lord was growing daily. She knew these troubles will soon be over eagerly looking forward to the joy in heaven that will last forever. Oh, the joy Jessie is sharing uniting with love ones and seeing God and His son, Jesus, face to face. God will say well done my good and faithful servant.

Jessie had many interests including reading, studying the bible, doing craft projects, watching old movies, shopping, especially at QVC and loved to collect items such as lighthouses, sunflowers, angels, cats, etc.

Jessie was a loving caring person helping who ever needed a helping hand. She took care of several persons who needed to be cared for in their home. Jessie's greatest joys included fellowshipping with believers and spending time with her family and friends. She was always keeping in touch with them.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Linda and Audrey; brothers, Gilbert, Jr., Phillip and Allen. Jessie is survived by her sister, Sylvia and brother, Martin.

The family would like to thank everyone with sincere appreciation who cared for Jessie with love, respect and compassion.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 11 am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family from 10am-11am. Burial will follow the service in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jessie Hargan may be made to Atonement United Methodist Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
