Joseph Donald Murphy, Jr.

Joseph D. Murphy, Jr., age 61, of Claymont, DE, left for Heaven on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He passed away at Temple University Hospital in PA.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Anna and Joseph D. Murphy, Sr.  Joseph graduated from Claymont High School.  He was a loving husband, father and a great friend to many.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, his dog, Angel, gardening, crabbing and playing cards.  Murf will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of being in his life.  He will forever be missed and “loved all the way up”.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Claire Murphy; four children, Michelle Murphy, Kristen Murphy, step children, Kristi (Ty) Solis and Jessie (Erica) Ludwig; twelve grandchildren; sister, Catherine Burton; and nephew, Michael (Diane) Burton.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 12pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family from 10am to 12pm.  Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
