Shirley R. Atkinson

Shirley R. Atkinson, age 83, of New Castle, DE, died peacefully at home with her family, on January 31, 2018.

Shirley was a homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the lottery, trips to Delaware Park and playing bingo.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth N. Atkinson. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Miller (Randy), Jo-Ann McVey (Wayne); her sons, Kenneth Atkinson and Robert Atkinson; her grandchildren, James (Tink) Hardy, Michael Diehl, Jason Diehl, Nicole Poniatowski and Michelle Atkinson; her great grandchildren, Jason Diehl, Jr. and Tyler Diehl.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Vitas Health Care for their caring and support.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, 6486 Bay Road, Frederica, DE 19946.
