My name is LCDR Jessica Betz. I had about 200 sailors work for me on the USS CARL VINSON from 2012-2014 and Steve was one of them. I just heard about his passing from one of his former shipmates posting his obituary. It broke my heart. I wish I had a chance to talk to his family in person to tell you what an incredible sailor he was. He worked hard every day within Reactor Department. Not only was he diligent, he always had a smile on his face and he always helped others when they needed it. He had tact and impeccable military bearing. You could tell he was raised right. When in qualifications, he constantly worked at getting to know his equipment and spaces better and was proud to show off his knowledge when asked. I wish I could have thanked him for his service before he got out but I had moved on to another command. Please know, he will never be forgotten. I am grateful to have had the chance to work with him. Prayers for you and your family.
