Steven R. Anderson

Steven “Steve” R. Anderson, age 63, of New Castle, DE, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 4, 2018. 

Steve was a 1973 graduate of William Penn High School in New Castle, DE.  After graduating, he worked for the New Castle County Parks and Recreation Department, from which he retired in 2005 after 30 years of service.  In his leisure time, Steve was an avid and skilled model builder and enjoyed scale model railroad trains, reading  and classic television.

With Steve’s passing, the Anderson family lost its unofficial historian.  Steve would frequently talk about events from our early years and then hit us with that booming laugh.  Many of these events could not be recalled by anyone but Steve, so sometimes we wondered if they really happened.  But, he was insistent and consistent in his recollections, so perhaps they did.

Steve was born in Wilmington, DE, in 1955 to the late Robert E. Sr. and Louise G. Anderson.  He is survived by siblings, Robert E. Anderson, Jr. (Kathy) of Clayton, DE, David Anderson (Susanne) of Lancaster, PA, Barbara Pernot (Charlie) of Pinellas Park, FL, and Kenneth Anderson of Newark, DE; aunt Sandra “Sandy” Anderson of Smyrna, DE; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

There will be a family Celebration of Life on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at 12 Elwood Drive, Smyrna, DE.
