Tommy was a long time member of the Mancus Foundation where he enjoyed playing bingo, going bowling and socializing at the monthly dinners.  He was a volunteer at A.I. Despite obstacles and challenges he faced during his life, he always maintained a positive outlook and enjoyed sharing stories of his family and his faith in God.  His love and devotion to God, Country and family was immeasurable.  He was a kind, caring, considerate person who loved children and babies.  The impact he had on the lives around him will remain forever in our hearts.

Tommy is survived by his mother, Anna Rose, of Wilmington, Delaware; his father, Thomas E. Gerres (Barb), of Springersville, Arizona; his brothers, Lawrence Gerres (Beverly) of Springersville, Arizona, Daniel Gerres (Bonnie) of Claymont, Delaware, Joseph Gerres (Beverly) of South Mills, North Carolina; his sisters, Kathleen Gerres of Claymont, Delaware and Wendy Gerres of Bear, Delaware.  He was also blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Robert Rose; and two nephews, Stephen Scott (Tina) and Kevin Nicholas.

Friends may visit with the family at the United Methodist Church of the Atonement, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.  Services will be held following visitation at 11:00 a.m. where family and friends may join in the celebration of his life.  A luncheon will be held at the United Methodist Church of the Atonement after the service and burial will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church, Cemetery, 469 Salem Church Road, Newark, Delaware.
