Dear Carrie and family,
I just returned from an extended vacation to learn of Hick's untimely death. My sincere condolences to all you.
I remember fondly the time spent working with Hick on the genesis of the Capt. Harry. His knowledge and understanding of tug handling were exceptional and he always challenged us to do our best. It was a distinct pleasure to work with Hick; he was such a kind and pleasant individual who quickly became more of a friend than a client, but valued greatly as both.
Our industry has lost a great friend.
Best Regards
Rob Allan

Cary & Lindsey: We were so upset to hear of Hick's passing. Although we haven't been in touch for too long, we remember him always with a smile on his face and an offer to help with whatever horse event Lindsey had gotten herself into. Our hearts ache for you as you grieve his loss. We know he will be sorely missed. If we can help in any way, please don't hesitate to ask, and stop by anytime to see us and be around the horses. Love, Ted & JoAnn

i've known Hick thru the maritime industry for 30+ years. I didn't get to see him often but whenever i did it was special for me. He was one of the most sincere, honest, caring, & just nicest guy i've had the fortune to meet thru our industry. Always took the time to talk,he cared what i had to say, cared about our industry. Just pure class. I'm so sorry that he's gone, he made the world a better place. My thoughts & prayers to his family.

To the family I offer deepest sympathy as Hick is one of those men who will be sorely missed by everyone. His talent, integrity, humor, compassion for seafarers, and his willingness to work with anyone and pitch in just made the whole port run better. He was a good friend and I will miss his insight, his calming effect on people around him, and even his doodles during meetings. Rest in Peace Hick

I am deeply saddened to learn of Hick's passing. My mind is flooded with memories of times shared with him - growing up on the lower end of Second Street in Lewes, St. Andrew's School where Hick was Class of '58 and I was Class of '55, Pat's and my wedding in '61 in which Hick served as an usher, and many, many times on the bridges of ships when I was the River Pilot and Hick was the Docking Master. He was a fantastic person and a lifetime friend. My heartfelt sympathy to his family.
