Dorothy E. DiRusso

Dorothy E. DiRusso, age 87, of Hartly, DE, formerly of Claymont, DE passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Cadia Rehabilitation Center, Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE.

Dorothy attended the Claymont Stone School and graduated from Claymont High School Class of 48’ and  Goldey Beacom  Class of 50’.  Dorothy was a legal secretary for over 20 years in Wilmington, DE.  She was a member of the Claymont Stone School Association and the Historical Society of Claymont.

Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and spent most her life doing so as they were her world. She will be deeply missed by them as well as all that knew her. She enjoyed going to her beach house each weekend which she owned for 51 years. She was an avid fan of all the Philadelphia sports teams and enjoyed spending time relaxing and doing word puzzles. And, although she tried each year, she never did get that door knock to win Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth McCreary (John); sons, William DiRusso, Jr., Mark DiRusso (Laurie); grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) and Matthew (Kathryn) McCreary, Gabrielle and Zachary DiRusso, Nicole, Rabecca, Caiden, Teagan and William DiRusso III; and three, great grandchildren, Nicholas, Cameron and Lucy.

A Viewing  will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9:30am to 10:30am  at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE  19703 ,where a Funeral Service will begin at 10:30am.  Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Claymont Historical Society, 151 Wiltshire Road, Claymont, DE 19703.
