Harry Weaver

Harry Weaver, age 89, of New Castle, DE passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Calvert Manor in Rising Sun, MD.

Harry attended William Penn High School. Mr. Weaver served as an “MP” in the Army. He was honorable discharged in 1948. After his military service, Harry became an Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in New Castle. During the 29 years he served as an associate Pastor, he started the Bus Ministry and food pantry for the Church. Harry ministered the Senior Citizen Class, Prison Ministry, Vacation Bible School and Visitation Program. Most of all, he was a soul winner, bringing others to Christ, all while working at the First Baptist Church.

Harry is survived by his wife, Marlene Weaver of New Castle, DE; son, Michael Weaver (Valerie) of Rising Sun, MD; daughter, Mary Beth Eder (Rick) of Louisville, KY; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 9 am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle DE 19720. The viewing will be held on Tuesday Evening, December 12, 2017 from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home.  The Committal Service will take place in the Chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE at 11 am on Wednesday.
