Helen T. (Leonard) Stevenson

Helen T. (Leonard) Stevenson, age 89, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on October 4, 2017 at Compassionate Care Hospice in St. Francis Hospital.

She was the daughter of Mary (Rogers) and John P. Leonard. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School, New Castle, DE and was a member of Goodwill Fire Company serving as one of the past presidents of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Helen "Sis" will be fondly remembered by all who knew her as having a quick wit, beautiful smile, and love of family and her fur babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Richard E. Stevenson, Sr. in 1999, and her son-in-law Michael C. Pettyjohn, Sr. in 2006.

Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Linda Sarro, with whom she lived, Cheryl Kolodi (Kevin), sons Francis (Diane), Richard (Nancy) and Thomas Stevenson, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, along with many beloved nieces and nephews and her pet companion Tabby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered　on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 12 noon　at Holy Spirit Catholic Church,　12 Winder Road, New Castle, DE 19720　where friends may call beginning　at 10:00 am. The burial service will immediately follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Compassionate Care Hospice staff and the staff at St. Francis Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be sent to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142
