Irving Chernekoff Obituary

Age 92, of Claymont, DE and Greenacres, FL passed away peacefully on December 28, 2018.

Irv was born in South Philadelphia to Russian Immigrants and was one of 9 siblings. Irv served in the US Army during World War II. When he returned, he married his teenage sweetheart, the late Barbara (Honey) Chernekoff, nee Mintz.

Irv and Honey were married for 63 years and together they raised five children in Claymont. He was a true entrepreneur, do-it-yourselfer and salesman most of his life.

He is survived by his sons, Bill (Carleton), Arthur (Andrea), Joel and Steven; and his daughter, Jill (Steve). He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Amy (Steve Kusen), Mark (Sarah), Ryan (Tara), and 3 great-grandchildren.  

Irv will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and as a fun-loving friend to all who knew him.

A Burial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 8th, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701. Following the service, the family invites guests to a luncheon at 1:00 pm at Del Vets Post #1, 2535 Veterans Dr., Wilmington, DE 19810.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Jewish War Veterans USA.
