Mary Anne T. Macielag, age 72, of Dagsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 with her family by her side in Claymont, DE. She was born in 1945 in Wilmington, DE to Alfonso J. Nowakowski and Frances T. Nowakowski (Orzechowski). Mary Anne attended St. Hedwig’s and graduated from Wilmington High School Class of 1963.

Mary Anne worked in the accounting and banking industry, but was known for her entrepreneurial endeavors as well, all while raising a family. She loved photography, painting and the beach. She volunteered early on for Meals on Wheels, and later, for Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Millsboro Art League. She was a member at American Legion Post 28. She was actively involved in women’s rights even attending the Women’s March on Washington in January. She was a role model and an inspiration to many.

Mrs. Macielag was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Stanley P. Macielag and her brothers-in-law, Francis Macielag and Paul Lundberg.   

Mary Anne is survived by her son, Christopher S. Macielag; daughter, Jennifer Boruta and son-in-law, Andrew; daughter, Jillian Soden and son-in-law, Ray; son, Paul Macielag; her sisters, Patricia Phipps and her husband, Patrick and Lucille Wolford and her husband, Robert; her brother-in-law, Thomas S. Macielag; her grandchildren, Christopher R. Macielag and Josephine Macielag; her great-granddaughter, Kylie Macielag; and many loved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11 am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. The visitation hour will begin at 10 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial service will be private.
