Mary Jane Oakman

Mary J. Oakman, age 86, of Smyrna DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away August 30, 2018, at home.

Mary was a gracious homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and reading.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Lee F. Oakman; son, Robert L. Oakman; daughter, Mary J. Scott and 3 sisters.  She is survived by her daughter,  Barbara A. Steele (Robert C.) of Smyrna, Delaware, with whom she resided; sons, Enos F. Oakman (Cindy) of Wilmington, DE, Frederick J. Oakman (Connie) of Clayton, DE, Anthony J. Oakman of Wilmington,  DE; 5 brothers; 6 sisters; 15 grandchildren;  19 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.

A viewing will be held Sunday evening, September 9, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where a funeral service will be held Monday morning, September 10, 2018 at 12noon.  Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
