Andrew J. George Obituary

Andrew J. George, age 70, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Seasons Hospice following a short illness. 

Andrew was born and raised in Wilmington, DE to the late Josephine (D’Orazio) and Octavio George. In addition to his parents, Andrew was predeceased by his brother, Thomas George.

Andrew received his undergraduate degrees from University of Delaware in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration and a MBA from Drexel University. He had a 25 year career in the R&D Toxicology Department at Atlas Powder/ICI/Zeneca. He retired as a Financial Planner from JPL Asset Management & Planning. Throughout his life, Andrew enjoyed global travel, Phillies and Eagles games, handicapping and he was an avid card player. 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paula (Sweigart); daughter, Jennifer George-Rojas; sisters, Theresa Goff and Pamela George; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to friends and neighbors for their love and support. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the staff at Christiana Care Neuro Unit and Seasons Hospice in Wilmington.

A Catholic Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, September 9 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, P.O. Box 834, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-226-0028); or Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, PO Box 803, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
