Annabelle Lawrence Vaughan passed away peacefully at her home in Claymont, DE on February 5, 2023. She was 93 years old.
Annabelle was born in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Delaware in 1941. She was a graduate of Claymont High School, class of 1947. She then attended Goldey-Beacom College. She worked for over a decade as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Worth Steel and later Phoenix Steel Corporations.
Annabelle loved travelling the USA and the world with her beloved husband, Dick. She also enjoyed bowling with her buddies, all types of card games, cats, reading and striking up conversations with all and sundry. She was a joyful, cheerful light who blessed us with a lifetime of good memories and plenty of laughs.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Karen), and their children, Gabby, Will, and Owen of Beach Haven, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dick and by her parents, Gus and Betty Lawrence.
The family wishes to acknowledge and praise the team at Home Instead who worked so well at keeping her in her own home, comfortable and cared for in these final years, the hospice workers from Vitas who showed such compassion, and the other healthcare and senior care workers who all cannot be adequately thanked for their great service.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Atonement Methodist Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
