Arthur Raymond “Art” Wertman, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from natural causes at Christiana Hospital.

Born in Chester, PA, Arthur was a long-term resident of Claymont, DE. He was the son of the late Nelson Jesse Wertman and Margaret F. Wertman (nee Wilson). He worked at Claymont Steel Mill, AstraZeneca, and served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a proud veteran who actively participated in his local VFW. He loved cooking, crossword puzzles, and watching old movies, but most important was his time spent with family and friends.

Arthur is survived by his children, his daughter, Bonnie Wertman; son, Andrew Wertman and his wife, Kaitlan Wertman; his only grandchild, Jason Wertman; his sisters, Margaret Catalano, Mabel Deldeo, Eleanor Wertman, Sarah Boscher and her husband, Tom Boscher; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel Wertman and Frank Wertman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 10am – 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, 19703, where a Memorial Service will begin at 11am. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701 at 1pm.
