Barbara “Barbie” Holden, 59, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away on September 19th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24th, 1965, in Wilmington, Delaware. Throughout her life, she was a source of strength, laughter, and unconditional love. 

In 2014, Barbie was diagnosed with breast cancer and told she had only two years to live. In true Barbie fashion, she defied the odds and fought bravely for eleven more. Her determination, positivity, and courage inspired everyone who knew her. Even through the hardest battles, she never let go of her humor or her ability to lift up those around her. 

Barbie was the strongest woman her family knew-a devoted wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her love and presence were a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Holden; her son, Donald Holden Jr. (Claudia Krouse); and her granddaughter, Saylor Holden. She is also survived by her mother, Karen Guagent; her niece, Tiffany Saccomanno; and Tiffany’s son, Dominic. She was predeceased by her father, Gerald Guagent, and her sister, Traci.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants, especially Dr. Veradarajan, for her commitment and compassion throughout Barbie’s medical journey. They would also like to thank Unit 5A at the Bayhealth Sussex Campus for their dedicated care and support during her final days.

Though her time here has come to an end, the love, courage, and joy she shared will live on forever. 

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, from 10:00am until 11:30am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30am.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
