Barbara A. Glaros, age 84, of Newark, DE, went to rest peacefully on July 12, 2023.
Born on October 31, 1938 in Wilmington, DE to Arthur and Inez Burd, Barbara goes now to join her son, James Horack, her late husband, James Glaros, her younger sister, Carrol Ellis and the rest of her family and friends in spirit.
Barbara was the loving mother of four children and her four grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Horack, Barbara Nawrocki and Rose Chiffons; and her grandchildren, Alyssa Gray, Benjamin Nawrocki, Joseph Rogers and Julie Wright.
Barbara devoted her life to providing a safe and loving home for her children and grandchildren. There was scarcely a day where she wouldn’t call, worried about where they were or what they were up to, leaving voicemails which, at the time, could be rather frustrating from the sheer volume of them. Now with great sorrow, they’ll be missed, each and every one. Barbara loved watching movies, playing with animals, tending to her home and gardening. Some of her favorite movies were Karate Kid, Jurassic Park, Home Alone and anything with Charles Bronson. Barbara also loved hydrangeas and at one point raised a small, baby hydrangea into a bush taller than eight feet with blue, beautiful flowers.
There weren’t many places that Barbara could go without making friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and in spite of life’s difficulties, she spent much of her time being silly, enjoying life for what it was and laughing at the smallest things. Even in her final days, there was time for laughter. It didn’t matter if she was at work, at home, in a hospital or on the road, Barbara made those around her smile and laugh where ever she went, whether she meant to or not. She had a temper, yes, but her love was true and almost nothing was beyond her ability to forgive.
Barbara’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude towards the staff of Newark’s Bayada Home Health Care, specifically Gabrielle and Bryanna, who not only helped Barbara fight for her independence but became stalwart and loving friends who helped her find the laughter and comfort to be herself.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday August 10, 2023 at 11:00am at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE 19805.
