Edwin J. Acker

Edwin John Acker, age 83, of Wilmington, DE sadly passed away October 12, 2023.

Edwin was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late John and Harriet Acker of Prospect Park, PA. Edwin was predeceased by his son, Michael, his devoted wife of 54 years, Frances and his brother, Roy Acker. 

He was a loving father to John Acker and his fiancé, Trisha Marston, both of Mechanic Falls, ME, and David Acker and his wife, Tonya Acker of Wilmington, DE. Edwin was a proud Pop Pop to his grandchildren, Kirstie, Meaghan, Christian and great grandfather, to Camden and Noah. Edwin is also survived by his sister, Eleanor Hess of Wilmington, DE. 

Edwin was a proud Marine Corp Veteran with 20 years of service and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was happiest spending time with family and friends and making homemade crafts with his wife, Frances, which they sold at craft shows. Edwin also loved going fishing on his bass boat and enjoying a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee every chance he had. 

There will be a viewing from 10am to 11am on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware 19703, where a funeral service will begin at 11am. The burial service will immediately follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
