Eileen C. Hosey, age 91, of Smyrna, DE went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. 

Born in Hazelton, PA on December 20, 1933, and raised in West Chester, PA, Eileen was the daughter of the late Viola M. Voltz and John R. Watson, Sr.  In 1954, Mrs. Hosey graduated from and was employed by the former Wilmington General Hospital. She transferred to Christiana Hospital near her home in Stanton, DE until she retired in 1999 as an Assistant Nurse Manager, preferring to work 3rd shift most of her career.

Eileen was a member of Fairwinds Baptist Church in Bear, DE and previously attended First Baptist Church in New Castle, DE where she sang in the choir, signed for the deaf and was active in visitation. Eileen enjoyed watching the abundance of wildlife visiting her outside daily while listening to gospel music and sermons, especially Oliver B. Green.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald D. Hosey, Sr.; 5 siblings, Mary, Viola, August, John, Jr. and most recently, Earl (Jackie) Watson, Sr. of West Chester. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (David) Anderson of Middletown, DE; 2 sons, John Hosey of Smyrna, DE, and Donald (Karla) Hosey, Jr. of Fair Grove, MO; 6 grandchildren, Alicia, Ashley, Michael, Clorissa, Donald, III, Jonathan (Colleen); 2 siblings, Mia Eyrich of Altadena, CA, and John Eyrich of Bainbridge Island, WA; several great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces, including Linda Biscombe, who always kept in close contact; her lifelong church and nurse friends; and her beloved little dog, Rylee.

A viewing will be held at Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Ave., Bear, DE 19701 on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 11am until 12pm, where a funeral service will begin at 12pm.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
