Evelyn "Susan" Farren, a beautiful soul with a firecracker personality and a heart full of kindness, passed peacefully from this life on October 22, 2024, to be with her Lord and Savior.
Susan was born and raised in Perryville, Maryland, where she enjoyed a small-town upbringing as a country girl and a bit of a tomboy. She adored her Daddy, who taught her to love the outdoors, nature, hunting, and fishing. Her momma was the apple of her eye, raising Susan to be a kind, helpful, and loving young lady—a spirit that continued throughout her life. As a devoted sister, Susan shared a special bond with her brother, Jesse H Jr., who was not only her big brother but also her best friend and hero. She admired him deeply, and their connection was a cornerstone of her life.
When Susan was a young teen, the family moved to Wilmington, DE where she lived out the rest of her life. She worked tirelessly her entire life, often holding multiple jobs to ensure her children had everything they needed to succeed. Much of her career was spent in the business and clerical field, yet her greatest joy and achievement was being a mother to her three children, Cindy Allen, Paul Farren, and Susan Diamond. She loved them unconditionally, and her guidance and support were unwavering. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Bill Harris Jr., Jon Harris and his partner Gabby Joly, and Johnny Diamond; her great-grandson, Parker Joly Harris; her beloved nieces, Kathy, Cindy, and Caroline; her nephews, Jesse H III. and Chris; and her many great-nieces and nephews. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love and encouragement will be dearly missed every day.
Susan’s interests included decorating her home, gardening, carpentry, and building projects. She loved to sing and dance and was an active member of St. Helena's Parish, where she sang with the Folk Group for many years, she also worked as volunteer in the school as well as the Parish Outreach Office. Susan had the biggest heart toward all animals, she had a special bond with her cats, especially her “baby girl,” Halloweenie.
Above all, Susan’s firecracker spirit, boundless love, and unwavering faith made her an unforgettable presence. She taught her family the values of honesty, gratitude, and resilience, always reminding them to stay true to themselves and love fiercely.
A private memorial service will be held to celebrate Susan’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in her honor. Susan’s legacy of love, faith, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
