Fortunato J. Agostinelli Obituary

Fortunato Joseph "Gus" Agostinelli, of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the age of 91.

He dedicated many years of his life to the Navy and later to his career as a pipe fitter, but those who knew him best understood that his true passion was baseball. Whether it was playing the game himself (nearly as a Pittsburgh Pirate) or cheering on his grandchildren at their practices and games, his heart was always on or near the ballfield. His love for sports was vast, but his greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play.

When he wasn’t at the ballfield, you could find him at the casino or planning his next travel adventure. He firmly believed in seizing every opportunity in life, living with the motto to do everything you want while you still can. He truly embodied this spirit, making his final solo journey—a 1,000-mile drive from New Jersey to Florida to visit friends—just months before his passing.

A true Italian, he was both fierce and stubborn, qualities that mirrored his immense love—intense but unwavering. He took great pride in being a grandfather, and was exceptional in that role, leaving behind a legacy of love so profound that words seem to fall short in capturing it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna, his brother Louis, and his beloved wife, Carolyn Agostinelli. Those who knew him best find comfort in knowing he is now reunited with the love of his life. His legacy lives on through his children and stepchildren, loving siblings, nieces and nephews, and several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no visitation or services. A private burial will be held for the immediate family.
