Gerald A. “Jerry” Hughes, age 78, of Claymont DE passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025.

Jerry was a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio and had a 45 year career in various auditing/accounting roles. He attended and volunteered for many years at Linwood United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history, current events, movies, bowling, and singing.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Hughes; his daughter, Deborah Stitely and her husband, Keith Stitely; his daughter, Christina Hughes; his son, Matthew Hughes; his brother, James Hughes; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Serena Hughes and his brother, Donald Hughes.

A Viewing will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 10:30am – 11:30am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, 19703, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11:30am.  Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Dupont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gerald Hughes to the American Red Cross.
