Gordon James Knowles, Sr., aged 86 of Claymont, Delaware, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware died November 18, 2023 at Wilmington General Hospital, Delaware.

Gordon was the son of the late Rollie Knowles and Sarah Knowles (formerly Smith).

He was a graduate of Brown Vocational Technical High School as a master carpenter and spent a career working at Congoleum Corporation flooring industry.  

Gordon also served with the 101st Airborne Division, United States Army, as a combat engineer soldier and paratrooper. 

As a motorcycle enthusiast, was also an active member of the Harley Owners Group, or specifically the First State HOG Chapter of Delaware with his late wife Marian Knowles, who also passed in June of 2023.

Gordon is survived by his son, Gordon J. Knowles, Jr., who resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. 

A Committal Service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.  at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, Delaware 19701.
