Hildegard R. Greway

Hildegard R. Greway, age 92, of Wilmington, DE died Sunday, March 15, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital. 

Hildegard was born February 5, 1928, in Fulda, Germany, the daughter of Leopold and Frieda Jestadt Rohrig. She came to the United States in 1951. Hildegard was married to Henry J. Greway, who passed away in 1977.  She was  employed with the Du Pont Company and retired after 29 years of service.  Mrs. Greway was a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Claymont and was for many years active   in their Outreach office.  She was also a member of Post Cana where she served for several years as a member of the advisory board.

In addition to her parents, Hildegard was predeceased by her husband, Henry, a brother, Helmut Rohrig, son-in-law, Eric J. Scott and granddaughter, Rachel M.Scott.

Surviving are her son, Leo H. Greway, and his wife, Dolores of Norwood, PA; two daughters, Rosemarie Scott of Carney’s Point, NJ and Teresa J. Dodds and husband, Richard of Boothwyn, PA.  She is also survived by a brother, Berthold Rohrig and wife, Hannelore; a sister, Gertrude Rehm and late husband, Erwin; sister, Marianna Moeller and late husband, Gregory and sister-in-law, Marga Rohrig and nieces and nephews are all from Germany.  There are also nieces and nephews from Philadelphia, PA. In addition, there are seven grand-children, Melissa Greway, Andrea Debellis, Philip R. Greway and Rebecca Greway, Erica Jacobs, Richard W. Dodds and Laura R. Dodds; nine great grandchildren, Savannah, Braxden, Joseph, Autumn, Melanie, Regan, Samuel, Stephanie and Fabian.

Mass of Christian Burial and Interment will be private. Memorial gifts may be given to Holy Rosary Parish, c/o Parish Outreach – Food Closet, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
