Jacqueline Marie Shaner, nee Ward, age 56, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2022. Jackie was born in Wilmington, DE on September 22, 1965.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Britany (Brian) Kimble; her son, James Shaner; and grandson, Brayden Shaner. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Powell, Margie (Robin) Marsilii, Geralyn Long, Eileen Pfeil, Tricia (Bill) McCole; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents, James and Helen Ward; her siblings, Kathleen Leach, James Ward and William Ward.
Jackie was a longtime resident of Claymont, DE and a graduate of Claymont High School and Delaware Technical Community College for Radiology. Jackie had too many hobbies to list, but the most important study to her was the Bible. She had a drive and a thirst not to just understand the King James Version but also non-canonical writings. Many of her proudest moments were spent with her grandson, Brayden.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 11am – 12pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where a Memoriall Service will begin at 12pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Delaware Veterans Post #1, 2535 Veterans Drive, Wilmington, DE 19810, from 1:30pm-3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jackie’s memory to support sarcoma research at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center.
