James Joseph Collins, Sr

James Joseph Collins, Sr., age 78, of Upper Chichester, PA passed away on January 1, 2023. He was born in Philadelphia on November 9, 1944, to James Joseph Collins and Mildred Mary Grover.

He graduated from Girard College High School in 1962, then proceeded to graduate with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami in 1966.  His professional career was spent mostly working for Wawa as a buyer, but he also held several different jobs in that similar industry. 

Jim was a hardworking, dedicated and extremely caring man. He loved his family more than anything!  He also loved to cheer on his Philadelphia sports teams, holding season tickets to the Eagles for many years. In fact, he is a member of the Eagles are going to do it this year club! He also loved to do puzzles in his spare time, some of which he framed and are quite amazing!

Jim was predeceased by both his parents and brother, John Marshall, in addition his second wife, Katheryn Collins.

He is survived by his children, Dawn (Eric) Wagner and James Joseph Collins, Jr., as well as his grandchildren, Ashley Cassatt, Trent Carpenter, Megan Wagner, and Taylor Wagner.  In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchild, Quinton Carpenter, first wife Mildred Theetge (Donald), Don Yost (cousin), Bill Yost (Cousin), and many other nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation with family and friends on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 6-7pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE and a memorial service will begin at 7pm.  Burial will be later at a separate time and date.
