Jill Katherine Devonshire Wetterau, age 83 of Claymont, DE, formerly of Tamaqua, PA passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at Seasons (Accent Care) Hospice, Christiana Hospital of Wilmington, DE.
Jill loved Tamaqua High School, where she was a 1956 graduate and was a member of many clubs. She and her husband, Billy grew up and met in Tamaqua. She visited Tamaqua several times recently to reminisce and see her mountains.
Jill attended Allentown School of Nursing for 2 years. She was a Title I Teacher’s Aide and later worked at Strawbridge’s part time.
Jill’s favorite memories are of raising her children and time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, William H. “Billy” Wetterau of Claymont, DE with whom she shared 63 years of marriage as of May 16, 2022; sisters, Beth A. Jones and her husband, Kenneth of New Ringgold, PA, Jan Domenic and her husband, Ralph of Claymont, DE; her children, Betsy A. Yates and her husband, John of Ridley Park, PA, Rusty Wetterau and his wife, Brenda of Wilmington, DE; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Plymer, Andrew Yates and his fiancée, Melissa, Chris Yates and his wife, Brenna, Halie Wetterau; 3 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Wesley and Leonidas.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents, William “Red” A. Devonshire and Elizabeth M. (Kachelries) Devonshire and her in-laws, William “Bill” and Muriel Wetterau.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 10am to 11am at Iron Faith Fellowship Church, 801 Darley Road, Wilmington, DE 19810, where a Memorial Service will begin at 11am. Following the service, all are invited to a Luncheon at the church. Burial will be private.
