Joann U. Morgan Obituary

Joann Urban Morgan, age 94, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on April 3, 2025.

The youngest of 8 children, Joann was born on March 30, 1931 in Chester, PA, to the late Katharine and Kasper Urban.

After graduating from Chester High School in 1949, Joann worked as a secretary to the Chief Chemist of the Refinery Laboratory at the Sun Oil Company from 1951 to 1955, when she became a stay at home mother. Her beloved husband of 53 years, James F. Morgan, passed away on March 11, 2004. She enjoyed taking many family trips, playing shuffleboard with friends, watching sports on TV (especially the 76ers), and going to casinos. She was a Life member of the Auxiliary of VFW Post 5447.

She is survived by her children, Michele Heyden (Michael), James Morgan Jr. (Cathy) and Brian Morgan (Su); her grandchildren, Melissa Morgan-Gouveia (Nate), Michael Heyden (Amy), Asia Morgan Rehder (Patrick), Amy Morgan (Kenny) and James Morgan; and her great-grandchildren, Avery and Addison Gouveia, Patrick, Charlotte, and Benjamin Rehder, and Lisbon Heyden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Joann’s caregivers, especially Cindy, who helped make it possible for Joann to remain in her home, where she has lived since 1968, and to Accent Care Hospice.

All services will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, Joann requested donations be made to the Autism Society of America, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 305, Rockville, MD 20852.
