John J. “Jack” Nagle, of Claymont, Delaware, passed away on January 29, 2022 at Gilpin Hall in Wilmington, Delaware. He was 88.
Jack was born on December 6, 1933 in Wilmington to Lillian and John L. Nagle. He was the youngest of three children. In 1955, he met his wife, Joan Tuohey, and went on to have four children who they raised in Claymont, DE.
During 1955 and 1956, Jack served in the U.S. Army as a member of the peacekeeping effort in North Korea. His career in Administrative Services as an offset printer at the Dupont Company began at the age of 16 and ended with his retirement at age 52. During his career and after his retirement, Jack also worked part time as a printer for the YMCA in Wilmington.
A lover of the outdoors, Jack enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing at Andelot Farm on the Chesapeake Bay. He and Joan enjoyed many trips throughout the U.S. and Europe.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joan; his children, Steven Nagle of Blacksburg, VA, Sharon Bennett (Steve) of The Villages, FL, Kathleen Hope of Wilmington, DE; and daughter-in-law, Donna Carpenter of Severn, MD. Jack will also be remembered by his grandchildren, Casey (Bryce) Armstrong of Leesburg, VA, Monica (Ben) Goeke of Oconomowoc, WI, Kevin (Ashley) Bennett of Portland, OR, Matthew and Molly Hope of Wilmington, DE, Drew Nagle of Blacksburg, VA; and great-grandchildren, Easton, Leighton, and Cannon Armstrong, Miles and Ada Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Teresa Nagle and Mary Sheeky; son, William Nagle; and son-in-law, Paul Hope.

Interment in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear, DE. is private.
Jack enjoyed gathering with friends and family over good food and drinks. He always said, rather than a funeral, he wanted a party. As he requested, a Celebration of Life party will be held at a later date.
