Obituary

John Stephen Paul Slotwinski, age 71, of Claymont, DE died Friday, June 23, 2023 at Temple University Hospital.

John was a graduate of Chester High School and studied at Steamfitters Local Union #420 Apprenticeship.  He worked 50+ years with Local Union #420. John was an original charter member of the Claymont Moose Lodge #847 for the past 40 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #951, and a member of Broken Rods Car Club.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone. Full of life and energy, John loved spending time with family and friends. ‘Tuesday luncheons with the retirees’, car shows or just stopping by the Moose Lodge are just a few of the things that kept him busy. His outgoing personality and sense of humor is what drew people to him. John loved listening to polka music and was a huge Phillies fan.

John’s garage (dubbed the ‘Garage Mahal’) was his happy place. John was a long-time classic car enthusiast, a passion that he inherited from his father. John passed his love of cars down to his sons as well, and enjoyed attending car shows with them regularly.

John was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Slotwinski; his brothers, Paul Slotwinski, Frank Slotwinski: and his son, John Slotwinski.

John is survived by his wife of 12 years, Barbara Briddes of Claymont DE; son, Stephen (Jenn) Slotwinski of Dover DE; son, Michael (Linda) Slotwinski of Claymont DE; daughter, Christina Kimmel of Wilmington DE; son, William Briddes of Claymont DE.  Six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Michael, William, Logan, Cameron, Katie; one great-grandchild, Liam; and two nephews.

John made an impact on many lives and truly will be missed.
