It is with profound sadness that the family of Kathleen Bonnell (Krebs) Leach announce her peaceful passing at the age of 70 on December 11, 2025, at Wilmington Hospital Accent Care Hospice.

Kathi was born in Aruba in 1955 and later moved to Claymont, Delaware, where she grew up and graduated from Claymont High School in 1973. That same year, she married the love of her life, John Leach, at Bethel Baptist Church on Wilson Road in north Wilmington. Kathi had a passion for children and ran a daycare from her home for many years, allowing her to be at home to raise her two sons while touching the lives of numerous families. Her Christian faith was profound and continued to deepen throughout her life.          

She was actively involved in her sons’ activities, cheering them on through little league baseball and football. A devoted fan of the Phillies and Eagles, Kathi rarely missed a game. She loved gardening and had a special fondness for flowers, especially purple ones…her favorite color. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading, needlepoint, and crocheting blankets for those she loved. Above all, Kathi’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Kathi was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Krebs; her father, John Krebs; her mother and father-in-law, Henry and Alice Leach; and her daughter-in-law, Laura Leach.

Kathi is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John; her sons, John (Alyson) and Kevin; her grandchildren, Keely, Kayian, Josh, and Gabby; her mother, Ann; her brother, Kirt (Gail); her sister-in-law, Tammie; her niece, Amanda; her nephew, Dylan; and numerous relatives and friends.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A Viewing will be held Monday, December 22, 2025 from 10am to 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11am.  Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE 19720.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kathi’s favorite charity, the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 N. Poplar Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
