Kevin James Horne, Jr.

Our beloved Kevin’s sun has set February 21, 2020 at the age of 35. Born to loving parents Kevin and Patricia Horne Sr. he was raised in Wilmington Delaware. Graduating from Mount Pleasant High School Kevin went on to attend trade school for pipe fitting, welding and HVAC at his local 74 where he became a proud Union member. Kevin worked as a Pipe Fitter & HVAC tech in the DE., PA. & NJ. areas most recently with Modern Controls Inc.

Kevin was an avid lover of the outdoors, sports and absolutely anything to do with water. From baseball, football, swim team, skateboarding, going to the beach or fishing with his dad as a kid to watching the Eagles, UFC, swimming or walking his dog Bruiser, who is his best buddy. He especially enjoyed having Bruiser pull him around the neighborhood on his skateboard. He found freedom in long scenic rides on his motorcycle often riding with his friends.

Kevin was loyal to family above anything else. A dedicated son & brother Kevin enjoyed spending much of his free time visiting with his parents. Whether stopping by for a quick visit with their grand dog, watching a football game, spending time on their boat along with his big sister Tabitha or just enjoying some relaxing time and talking.

A devoted husband Kevin married the love of his life Krista Hughes in 2012 and together they adopted 4 furry babies, Bruiser, Luna, Leo & Bailey. They particularly enjoyed weekend day trips to Philadelphia, boat days out on the water with family, watching UFC and walking the beautiful landscapes of Longwood Gardens where they were engaged. 

Kevin’s bright bold energy that lit up any room he walked into, his irresistible charm, his need to constantly help others, his vivacious sense of humor and of course his most infectious smile, so beautiful it could brighten even the darkest day will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His presence in our lives though short was a truly special blessing that will be forever cherished in the deepest parts of our hearts. 

Kevin is predeceased by his grandparents, William & Rita McGurk Sr., James & Veronica Horne & grandmother Judith Pease, his uncles William McGurk Jr., Steven McGurk, Steven Horne & Allen Hewitt, his aunts Michelle Moore & Naomi Hewitt. He is survived by his wife, Krista Horne, his parents, Kevin & Patricia Horne Sr., his sister, Tabitha Horne as well as many other family members, extended family and friends whom he loved so much.

Please join us in celebrating Kevin’s life on Saturday March 7th 11:00 am for a Mass at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont De. 19703 with the Celebration of Life to continue at the Claymont Fire Hall, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont De. immediately following the mass.
