Lawrence Anthony Skehan, of Claymont, Delaware passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, after a short illness. He was 67. Larry was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late John T. and Loretto M. Skehan. He was a lifelong Delawarean, spending most of his life in Claymont and residing in Radnor Green at the time of his passing.

He attended Saint Mark’s and Claymont High Schools and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, from the University of Delaware. He worked for the Sheraton Corporation and UPS before progressing into contracting full time as a carpenter, roofer, flooring and window installer and all around, MacGyver.

He was a lover of music, animals and The Eagles. He was an exceptional piano player with the ability to read music as well as pick up many songs by ear. Lucky you if you ever heard him pound out a selection of tunes. He was a regular at The Fox and could be found there most days during happy hour having a beer and answering the phone. Larry’s love language was a good argument, and he was usually the first to start one. Several neighborhood dogs depended on him for their daily walks, and he absolutely preferred dogs to people. He was appreciated by his neighbors and quick to lend a hand.

He was preceded in death by his brother Gerald “Jerry” Skehan and is survived by his siblings John “Jake” Skehan, (Linda) Catherine “Cathy” Mulry, (Tom) and Joanne “Twig” Burton and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA or a local animal shelter.
