Linda G. Machurek “Lynne”, 73, passed away September 4, 2022 while surrounded by family and close friends.
She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years Edward J Machurek, Jr., and by her parents Ted and Ella Mallow.
Linda is survived by her baby sister and best friend Susan Mallow, older brother Michael Mallow, children Diane Machurek and John Machurek and grandson Malachi Machurek who was her little moon pie. She also had 2 “adopted” sons Adam Olin and Kenny Schotterer who she loved very much. She had many nieces and nephews including Maria Verucci who was by her side and showed Lynne such compassion in her final moments; sister-in-law Beth Geller who assisted her with her many drives back from dialysis; and daughter-in-law Nicole Shaw whom she adored.
She had many friends throughout the years who will miss her sense of humor and wit. She was a long term lunch lady at William Penn and was a devout member of her church Free Will Baptist Church in New Castle. Linda was a hardcore fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and a devoted fan of wrestling. Her favorites were The Undertaker and Ric Flair and she taped every episode.
Linda was known and loved by many. She was fiercely loyal and frustratingly stubborn. Her sense of humor was notorious. She was a friend, cousin, sister, co-worker, wife, aunt, niece and grandmother but mainly she was our mom. She drove John and I crazy at times but at the end of the day no one loved us or had our back more than she did. She will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. She will be missed for the rest of lives. While her loss for us is huge, there is comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and will finally be reunited with our father whom she loved dearly and missed for so long.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Monday September 12, 2022 at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, Delaware 19703 where friends may call from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
