Surrounded by family, Margaret “Peg” Lunt, age 85, passed from this life to her next on Friday, April 10, 2026. The daughter of Hillyard Wayne & Margaret Sweeney Farrington, Peg was married to her high school sweetheart, Ira C. Lunt for 57 years, until his passing in 2016. A proud US Air Force family, Peg and Ira, along with their four children, traveled the world during his more than 20 years of service. Upon returning to their hometown of New Castle, Peg continued to raise their family while nurturing her love for ceramics, baking, and all things Disney, as Ira continued his service as a middle school teacher.

Peg was predeceased by her parents, by her loving husband, and their eldest daughter, Cynthia Lunt Fryer of Deatsville, AL.

Peg is survived by her brother, Wayne Farrington of Lewes, DE; her children Kathryn D. Lehman (Keith) of New Castle, DE, Christiane R. Schulze (Christopher) of Dover, DE, and Thomas W. Lunt (Devon) of Carney’s Point, NJ. Affectionately known as “Mom Mom,” Peg is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, and her eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10-11:00 am at New Castle Presbyterian Church, 25 E. 2nd St., New Castle, DE 19720. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Interment immediately following services will take place at Glebe Cemetery in New Castle, DE.

In gratitude for the four generations of Lunts that went through the Colonial School District and in recognition of their service to the district as educators, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be offered in honor of the Lunt Family to Colonial School District, 318 East Basin Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
