Mary R. Regan, age 85, of Claymont, Delaware, formerly of Scranton Pennsylvania, passed peacefully on July 29, 2023.

Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna Siwek and a graduate of Saint Mary High School, Scranton, Pennsylvania. After spending her early years in Scranton, she married John Regan and they moved to Claymont, Delaware, where she has lived for the last 60 years.

Mary spent her career as a working mother raising two children. She worked part time at Pomeroys Department Store and eventually full time as an operator for Bell Atlantic/Verizon. She was also a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church for over 60 years.

Mary is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Anthony “Jack” Regan; sister, Anna Connolly; brother, Joseph Siwek (Toni), brother, Michael Siwek (Jana); her daughter, Mare Palmer; son, Martin Regan; five grandchildren, Rachel Palmer, Kylie Palmer, Jake Palmer, Taylor Regan and Sean Regan.

Nothing brought more joy to her than her 5 grandchildren. She loved them all equally and passionately. Forever curious of their endeavors and supportive of their dreams.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 10am to 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 where a memorial service will immediately follow at 11am. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Claymont Stone School, P.O. Box 136, Claymont, DE 19703.
