Patricia A Hickey Obituary

Patricia “Pat” A. Hickey, 75 of Millsboro, DE previously from Marcus Hook, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Pat was very proud and protective of her two children: George (Carol) and Tricia and her five favorite fabulous grandchildren: Colin, Breanna, Regan, Cayden and Colton, her Love Bug and BFF.   She spent most of her time making great memories with them, whether her son was taking her out to dinner at the beach or she was chatting on the phone with her daughter 15 times a day, she loved it.

She was always up for adventures with all her grandchildren and was the best Mom-Mom around who never knew how to tell them “no”.   She went along with any game plan they had teed up for her whether it was riding bikes but forgetting to use the brakes and landing in the bushes, or swinging and launching off swings.  Colin was her protector and strong shoulder to lean on; She was Breanna and Regan’s Miss Patty Girl and their late-night gossip buddy.  Mom-Mom enjoyed watching funny videos and doing the sour candy challenge with Cayden and watching him dance and going on dates with her Colton.

Pat was member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Post 28, where she loved to play shuffleboard and hotshots.  She enjoyed all of her friends and she had many.

She went to Chichester High School and retired from Southco where she was a Production Planner.  In her prior career, she was a short order cook for many years at Lima Restaurant alongside her sister, Emmie who welcomed her into heaven with open arms.

Pat, the quintessential matriarch of eight siblings is survived by: Francis Christie, Regina Neary, James Christie (Carol), Joseph Christie (Kathy), Theresa Sheaffer, Lorraine Cessario (Tom) and stepfather: James Gallagher.

Pat is predeceased by her loving husband, George F. Hickey, Sr. and her parents:  Francis Christie and Emma Gallagher.

Pat lived her life like a great story whether it be with family, friends or even strangers.  She was the most fun loving person of all time and was always up for a great prank and a fast dance at any social gathering.  She would light up even the darkest rooms with her smile, laughter and zest for life.

A Memorial Service in honor of Pat will occur on Saturday, April 26th, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 with a visitation beginning just prior at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be private.
