Richard Earl “Sonny” Bock, Sr., age 91, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2023 in Wilmington, DE.
Richard served honorably during the Korean War as a crewman on destroyer escort ship USS McCoy-Reynolds. Shortly after leaving the Navy in 1955, he married and settled down to raise his family in Claymont, DE, working for many years at Electric Hose and Rubber Co. and later at Brandywine School District. He moved to Millsboro, DE to enjoy his retirement years, only recently returning to Wilmington to be closer to his family.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife of 40 years Rose Marie, his dear son Robert A. Bock, and his sister Marion Gall.
He is survived by his sons Richard E. Bock, Jr., Robin T. Bock (Ellen), Ronald E. Bock (Mary Jo), and Russell A. Bock (Beth), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and his sisters Joan Peacock, Joyce Nute, and Alice Peterson.
Richard will be laid to rest with his wife Rose at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony.
