Richard "Dick" Vroman Weaver passed away on March 22, 2023 in Dover, DE at the age of 87. He was born on February 22, 1936 in Syracuse, NY to Robert Reisinger Weaver and Dorothy Vroman Weaver.
Dick is predeceased by his daughter, Holly, and brother Edward.
Dick is survived by his wife of 59½ years, Dolores (Lorie) Raign Weaver; brothers Bruce and Jim (Janet) Weaver; sons Scott (Sharon) and Timothy (Anne) Weaver; grandchildren Dennis Malin, Amy Pearson, Hannah Weaver and Cynthia Weaver; and four great grandchildren.
Dick graduated High School from P.S. DuPont in 1954. After graduation he proudly served in the Air Force. He then attended and graduated from Wesley College. Dick started his career as a chemist with DuPont, where his research and development efforts led to two patents. He retired 33 years later as a Product Manager in DuPont’s Imaging Systems division which allowed him to travel extensively throughout the world. He especially loved travelling to South Africa and Australia.
After retirement, Dick went back to school to learn about HVAC installation and maintenance. He also built a greenhouse to grow orchids and served as President of the Delaware Orchid Society for two years.
Dick loved to work with his hands and had many other interests and hobbies over his lifetime including flying planes, golf, woodworking and automobile maintenance and repair. He once built a vacation house outside of Stowe, VT. Dick and Lorie travelled extensively throughout the US visiting many national parks.
Dick was a long-time, active member of Emmanuel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE where he married Lorie in August 1963 and served many years as a deacon and trustee. His faith in the Lord was unwavering and strong.
A visitation will be held at Emmanuel Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1006 Wilson Road, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:00am until 10:00am, where a funeral service will begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
