Robert E. Mills, Sr.

Robert E. “Bob” Mills, Sr., age 82, of New Castle, DE was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Bob was very hard working and was employed at Wilmington Suburban/United Water Company as a crew member/ supervisor, retiring after 40 years of service.

Bob enjoyed many days at the Jersey shore fishing and crabbing on his beloved Grady white boat. He also enjoyed the beaches of Stone Harbor, NJ, where he and his wife, Sophie had a vacation home.

Bob’s greatest joy was sharing time with his family, whether it be attending a wedding celebration, birthday celebration or just getting together to share a few laughs.  He lived a long and prosperous life and was blessed to have been Pop-Pop to five grandchildren and Great Pop-Pop to six great grandchildren.  Bob will always be remembered for his kind and caring heart.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sophie, brother, Howard and sister, Shirley. He is survived by his companion, Elizabeth Smith; sister, Lillian; his three children, Robert Mills, Jr., Francis Mills (Georgeanna), Tammy (Barry); grandchildren, Barry (Tiffany)Coleman, Tiffany (Joe) Sullivan, Christopher (Michele) Coleman, Jeffery Mills, Jennifer Mills; great grandchildren, Bradyn, Joey, Frankie, Henry, Tessa and Blayke.

A Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 10am to 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where a Funeral Service will begin at 11am.  Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE 19720.
