Theresa C. “Terry” Heaney (née Corradetti) of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Born on September 17, 1933, in Chester, Pennsylvania, to Rose Tempera and Massimo Corradetti, Theresa was a graduate of Chester High School. She dedicated her early years to American Viscose Corp. in Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, and was active with the Marcus Hook Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Theresa was married to Earle G. Heaney on May 1, 1954, and remained so for 46 years. Together they raised four children in Claymont, DE. She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and taught CCD classes. An accomplished league bowler, Theresa frequently played at Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley. She also enjoyed time at the casinos playing the penny slot machines and often traveled with family and friends.

After raising her children, Theresa returned to school at the age of 40 and completed her nursing degree. She worked at Riverside Hospital for 24 years and also worked with Dr. Vasilli in private practice.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Alfred Calicchia; three brothers, Massimo Jr., Anthony and Alfred Corradetti; and three sisters, Elsie Quirk, Rose and Mildred Calicchia. She is survived by her sister, Aida Dragoni.

She will be missed by her four children and their spouses,  Pat and Chuck Humphreys, Ed and Debi Heaney, Ken and Erika Heaney and Tim Heaney. Theresa has seven grandchildren, Sherri and Christopher Shepherd, Jennifer and Tommy Heaney (wife Jenna), Joshua Heaney (wife Mackenzie), Savannah and TJ Heaney; and four great-grandchildren, Shane DeLacy, Madison and Sienna Heaney, and Everett Allabaugh.

A viewing will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 10:00am until 11:00am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am.  Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.  A reception will be held at Harry’s Savoy Grill, 2020 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810 following the burial.
