Tonia J. Thomas

Tonia Jewel (Snyder) Thomas, age 70, of Townsend, DE passed away August 31, 2021 at Christiana Hospital.

Tonia was born July 1951 in Peru, Indiana to Harry P. Snyder and Betty Lewis. Tonia and her family lived in Indiana, then moved to Missouri, where she was raised. She was the oldest out of her brothers and sisters, and she often helped her mom with her younger siblings. She had a strong bond with all her brothers and sisters and loved each one deeply.

In 1973, Tonia moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where shortly after she met the love of her life John "Jack" Thomas, Jr., who at the time was in the Military and stationed in Florida. They dated for a few years, then married in December of 1976. Shortly after getting married, they moved to Claymont, Delaware to begin a family of their own. She had 2 daughters, Michelle and Mandy, who she loved more than words could describe and her daughters loved her equally.

Tonia was a kind, caring, strong woman who was not afraid to let you know her opinion. She enjoyed arts and crafts, knitting, watching TV, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. To say she will be missed is an understatement.

Tonia was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Thomas Jr., her Mother Betty Lewis, her father, Harry P. Snyder and her brother, Dale Swenney.

Tonia leaves behind her two daughters, Michelle (John) Worrall and Mandy (Mike) Thomas; her grandchildren, Matthew Levine, Christopher Worrall, Michael, Madison, Myles Fahey; her brothers and sisters, Beth (Rob) Stodulski, Diana Thomas, Don (Debbie) Vance, James Boren and Steven Lewis. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 1pm. until 2pm, where a Memorial Service will begin at 2pm.  Burial will be private.
