Mary Seaman Hutchcraft of Danville, California passed away on November 8, 2019. She was 91 years old.
Mary was born in New Castle, Delaware in 1928 to Bertha Miller and Joseph Seaman. She had 9 siblings. Mary loved New Castle and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She attended William Penn High School and Beacom College before working as a Physician's Secretary in the Medical Department of DuPont Corporation.
Mary married Arthur Stephens Hutchcraft, Jr. in 1955 and was the mother of 3 children. The family moved to California in 1964. Mary was an active volunteer serving as a Scout Leader and frequent school, community and PTA volunteer. She served as a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, developed a love of gardening and took great pride in caring for her beautiful home, which she adored. Mary also enjoyed fishing in Alaska with her husband, traveling with him and family to various places around the world and enjoying the peace and beauty of the family cottage on Lake Owassa in Northern New Jersey.
Mary was predeceased by her dear husband, Steve in 1998. She is survived by her brother, Andrew Seaman of Wilmington, DE; her 3 children, Martha Gonzalez of Calabasas, CA, Pamela Finlayson of Center Barnstead, NH and A. Stephens Hutchcraft III of Alamo, CA. She was grandmother to 7 grandchildren and will always be remembered as "Great MomMom" by her 5 great grandchildren, as well as a devoted aunt by her Madison, Abbott and Reiter nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 1pm to 1:30pm at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720, where a Funeral Service will begin at 1:30pm. Interment will immediately follow in Glebe Cemetery, New Castle, DE.
