Amy Beth Emerick Topel
Heaven gained a very special, beautiful, and loved angel on April 27, 2022, when Amy passed away with her brother and her cousin by her side.
Amy grew up in Pike Creek, Delaware; graduated from John Dickinson High School; and attended the University of Delaware. Always a free spirit and a lover of warm weather and water, she moved to Naples, Florida and then San Diego, California {her favorite place} before settling in La Crosse, Wisconsin over 15 years ago. Amy was a successful small business owner founding Access Office Services, a virtual assistant company, in 2008.
Every year on each of her family members' birthdays, Amy would send a note in our Family group text requesting that each family member provide words describing the birthday person. Amy was an amazingly positive, grateful, loving, thoughtful, independent, dog-loving {Kallie, Riley, Finnley}, organized, kind, quiet, artistic, determined, silly, and fun-loving woman who loved to travel, listen to multiple and diverse genres of music, eat grasshopper pie and Manco & Manco pizza, spend time at the beach and in the mountains, hike, walk with friends, read books, keep journals, meditate, and be in peace and relax.
Amy is survived by her parents, Linda Cowgill Emerick of New Castle, Delaware and Richard Emerick of Wilmington, Delaware; her siblings and their spouses, Kristen and Bill Armstrong, Megan and Jamie Wilson, and Brett and Stacia Emerick; her nieces and nephews, Jake and Charlie Armstrong; Taylor, Ryan, and Emily Wilson; Madeline Campbell and Raegan, Ellie, and Faith Emerick. She is also survived by her husband, Darin Topel, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, George and Norma Emerick and Tom and Betty Cowgill.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Grace United Methodist Church, 900 Washington Street, Wilmington, Delaware. Visitation with the family will begin at 3:00 PM in the Church's Washington Street Entrance Lobby.
In lieu of flowers, Amy's family encourages donations in her name be made to Coulee Region Humane Society, 911 Critter Court, Onalaska, WI 54650.
