Anthony “Tony” Michael Iannelli, age 77, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022.
Tony was a graduate of St. James High School in Chester, PA in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss in Texas.
Tony began his career as a baker at Buono Brothers Bakery in Chester, PA. In 1984, he opened the “Crumby Cooky Company” bakery in Downingtown, PA (where he was, admittedly, terrible at icing brownies). He spent most of his career working for Amoroso’s Baking Company, first as a District Manager and retiring as a Plant Manager.
Tony loved cooking, watching his beloved Phillies and Eagles, reading, and spending time with family. He never said “goodbye” when hanging up the phone, but would routinely say “c’est la vie” (that’s life). He was a beloved mentor in all things cooking and baking and will be painfully missed.
Tony is survived by his spouse, Colleen Wilhere of Wilmington, DE; brother, Joseph Iannelli of Yeadon, PA; stepdaughter, Callye Morrissey of Wilmington, DE; and stepson, Ethan Gekoski of Houston, TX.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Iannelli of Padua, Italy; mother Mary DiDonato of Sant’Omero, Italy; and brother, John Iannelli of Chester, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 21 at 11am at Holy Rosary Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
