Carole will be remembered for her infectious giggle, spunky spirit, and loving and caring attitude towards family, friends and strangers. Carole would meet someone while standing in line and let them know she loved their hair, sweater or their smile. She could always bring a smile to everyone with her kind words and warm heart. She enjoyed being surrounded by family, eating crabs or winning at the penny slot machines. Carole was happiest traveling with her loving husband. She enjoyed exploring the world with him at her side. They had traveled across the country from Delaware to Vegas to Florida. While during their travels, she fell in love with Florida, they purchased a 2nd home and became Snowbirds.

Carole is survived by her devoted husband, Anthony Charles Sokira; her children, Paul DaBaldo (Betty Jane), Mark DaBaldo, Michelle Smith (Jeff); her siblings, Bob Short (Marylou), Beverly Small (Charles) and James Short; her grandchildren, Emily, Julia, Jeffrey, Dorothy, Joe, Jason,  Michael, Robert, Valerie; and many loving stepchildren and step grandchildren.

Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Iva Dilts Short and William Robert Short.

Private viewing will be held at Gebhart Funeral Home, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE 19720 followed by a Private Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720. Burial will be Private in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
